The problem
Visitors see a full-page “Your connection is not private” warning, or a “Not secure” label next to the address. Contact forms may stop working. Most people simply leave.
What I do
- Install or renew the SSL certificate, usually a free one that renews itself
- Redirect every page to the secure version
- Fix images and scripts that still load over plain HTTP
- Check the forms, the checkout and the admin area all work
The result
The padlock is back, the warnings are gone, and the certificate renews automatically so it does not happen again next year.
